The next Sony State of Play will be your main place to hear about upcoming events in the world of PlayStation. Sony tends to reveal its projects at various shows, but larger games and announcements are usually saved in the state of play.
Since the series launched in 2019, Sony has been using State of Play for reveals The last of us 2 release date, debut gameplay footage for Tsushima’s spirit, and more. That’s why it’s always a good idea to watch State of the Game live streams if you want to be notified of important announcements regarding PS5 games and PSVR2.
The last State of Play aired in September 2022. It focused on God of War Ragnarok, which came out shortly after, as well as several games from Japanese developers and publishers. Tekken 8 was shown, as was Rise of the Ronin. Moving forward into 2023, we don’t really know much about what Sony is planning. The state of the game can be very close. Here’s what we know.
When is Sony’s next state of play?
We don’t have a next state of play date at this time. The last one took place in September 2022, So it’s possible that we’ll have to wait until the new year for updates.
We haven’t had anything official from Sony yet, and haven’t seen any credible rumors or reports since. However, we will update this as soon as we do.
What can we expect from the next Sony State of Play?
Sony hasn’t given us a date for the next state of the game, no matter what announcements they make. That said, we can try to guess what power be covered. Given that the last state of play focused on upcoming third-party titles and PSVR 2, we like to think that the next state of play will focus on upcoming first-party titles.
At the moment, it’s not particularly clear what’s next beyond the PSVR 2 games beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine.
We don’t know if that would mean a dedicated state of the game, or something that’s part of a wider announcement list. We can’t be sure of anything until Sony makes official announcements, there’s usually no consistent pattern.
What was revealed at the recent Sony State of Play?
The last state of the game was on September 13 and was mostly dedicated to third-party announcements and PSVR 2.
On the other side of the stream, we finally got the reveal of Tekken 8, the news that Like A Dragon: Ishin is being remade, the new trailer for God of War Ragnarok. This also included a look at the PlayStation-exclusive Hogwarts Legacy mission, as well as trailers for Pacific Drive, Rise of the Ronin, and Synduality.
As for PSVR 2, we have two new reveals for the upcoming VR headset. In addition to the enhanced version of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, this showcase also revealed that Demeo will be coming to PS5 and PSVR 2 next year.
