Google has announced that it will start using “new machine learning models” to get better Gmail search suggestions.
The tech giant claims that searching for a thread, file, or contact information in Gmail’s search box will now yield more contextual results with intent matching with names and contact information. Users may notice that results will now be rearranged to better match searches to people.
Google explains that the email search tool will also remember historical activity outside the search bar, such as how often you interact with someone in Gmail, which will increase their visibility in the results.
Better Gmail Search
The changes are currently being rolled out and the company is expected to be fully completed within 15 days.
Availability of Search Tool upgrades will include individual customers, Business Starter, Business Standard, and Business Plus Workspace accounts, as well as Enterprise Standard and Plus, Education Fundamentals and Plus, Frontline and Nonprofit members.
Unlike some previous versions, older G Suite Basic and Business customers will not receive an upgraded search tool. Customers using Google Workspace Essentials and Enterprise Essentials are also excluded from the update.
The latest Gmail updates
The message is Google’s latest update to an email service, including the recently announced Gmail search feature, which has given chip and filter-based core results to machine learning capabilities.
Google also recently announced that it will start making the updated Gmail interface available to all customers. The change, which was first revealed in February 2022, should make navigation easier and bring closer access to other services such as Chat and Meet.
